The Bunker is set in the small village of Springwood within the Blue Mountains. This project encapsulates reclaimed vintage materials, such as timber railway sleepers which once served as the foundations of Australia’s vast railway lines. Rusted iron sheeting and solid sand stone blockwork further add to a weathered retro contrast. The Bunker creates a warm and inviting space for people of all ages to enjoy. Designed specifically to entertain even the younger children, within safe seating areas, whilst the adults socialise, relax and enjoy a meal. In the design brief the client was specific in outlining the need for this space to be flexible in that it can turn from a boutique bar to a full restaurant. This was a challenge during both the design and construction but on the completion of the project the client was delighted with the final outcome.
